About us · Garhi Cantt, Dehradun

Ayurveda and Yoga,
practised with care

A wellness centre in the Doon Valley where classical Ayurveda, Panchakarma and therapeutic yoga are delivered the way the texts describe them — unhurried, constitution-based, and shaped around the person in front of us.

Vision & mission

Why this place exists

Dehradun has hundreds of wellness businesses. Very few of them will tell a guest that a shorter program is enough, or that what they need is a cardiologist rather than a cleanse. We built this to be one of the ones that does.

Our vision

That constitution-based medicine becomes an ordinary, respected part of how people manage chronic illness — measured, documented and practised alongside modern care rather than in opposition to it.

Our mission

To deliver classical Ayurveda and Yoga at a clinical standard we would accept for our own families: daily physician review, honest prognosis, protocols that change when the body asks, and outcomes we actually track.

We will tell you if a shorter program is enough.

We will refer you onward when that is the right answer.

You leave with everything in writing, every time.

A message from our founder

“Yoga can prevent a great deal.
It cannot do everything alone.”

I have taught yoga for more than twenty-five years — in school halls and college grounds, in government offices, at public camps, and on International Yoga Day with the officials and staff of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Thousands of people, most of whom came because something already hurt.

That work taught me what a daily practice can prevent, which is a great deal. It also taught me its limits. Again and again someone would arrive at Doon Yog Peeth carrying something an asana class could not reach on its own — a digestion that had not been right for years, sleep that would not come, a joint that needed treating and not just moving.

Devbhoomi Sanjeevani exists for exactly those people. I am a teacher, not a physician, so I did the only sensible thing: I brought qualified Ayurvedic consultants on board. They examine, diagnose and prescribe. I take the yoga, the pranayama and the meditation — the part I know.

We have only just opened, so I will not pretend to a history we do not have. What I can tell you is this: you will be listened to properly before anyone touches you — and if what you need is not what we do, we will say so.

Beyond the centre

Yoga as public health

Our founder has spent as much time teaching outside a studio as inside one. Preventive healthcare, taken to the people who need it rather than waiting for them to arrive.

Daily classes

Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly

Led mass yoga sessions for officials and employees of the Assembly on International Yoga Day, making the case for yoga as a daily habit rather than an annual event.

Schools, colleges & institutions

Regular workshops and training sessions across schools, colleges, government departments and public organisations — reaching people at the age where habits are still forming.

Public yoga camps

Free community camps open to all age groups, run on the principle that a disciplined lifestyle should not depend on being able to afford a class.

National and international

Workshops and judging at yoga festivals at national level, and internationally in Vietnam and the UAE — carrying the same message of preventive healthcare abroad.

Om Parvat, Uttarakhand

Why Uttarakhand

Devbhoomi —
the land of the gods

Ayurveda is not indifferent to place. The texts are specific about altitude, air, water and the herbs a region yields. Uttarakhand is where a great deal of the original materia medica actually grows.

  • The herbs are native here

Ashwagandha, brahmi, guduchi, kutki and jatamansi grow in the Garhwal belt. We buy from eleven farms within 90 km, and wild-harvest the rest under permit.

  • Clean air, a sheltered valley

At 640 m the Doon Valley sits between the Shivalik range and the Mussoorie ridge, with the Tons running past Tapkeshwar a few minutes from our gate. The environment does part of the therapeutic work before we do anything.

  • An unbroken teaching lineage

The Doon Valley lies on the road between Haridwar and the high Garhwal, and teachers have moved through it for centuries. Ours trained in that lineage, in traditions that never went dormant.

  • Seasons you can actually feel

Ritucharya — seasonal living — makes intuitive sense in a place with six distinct seasons rather than two. Guests understand it here in a way they do not at home.

Core values

Six commitments we can be held to

Values are only worth stating if a guest could tell when we had broken one. These are written so you could.

Authenticity

Classical texts guide our protocols. Where we adapt, we say so and explain why.

Honesty

We tell guests when Ayurveda is not the right answer, and when a shorter program will do.

Compassion

Chronic illness is exhausting. Nobody is rushed, dismissed or made to feel like a case number.

Evidence

Tradition and measurement are not opponents. We track outcomes and publish what we find.

Sustainability

Local sourcing, solar heating, zero single-use plastic and fair wages to our hill staff.

Accessibility

Subsidised places each month for guests from the surrounding Garhwal villages, from the day we opened.

What we are built on

No milestones yet.
Plenty of groundwork.

We could show you a timeline, but it would be a short one. What matters more at this stage is what stands behind the door on your first visit.

What to expect

A teacher with 25 years behind him

Acharya Dr. Bipin Joshi has taught yoga for more than two and a half decades — in schools, government institutions and at festivals abroad. The centre is new; the hands running it are not.

A sister centre already running

Doon Yog Peeth, where our founder is Lead Yogacharya, has been teaching in Dehradun for years. Devbhoomi Sanjeevani extends that work into clinical Ayurveda.

A purpose-built therapy block

Consultation rooms, a dedicated Panchakarma suite and a valley-facing shala, designed together rather than converted room by room.

Our own herbal preparation

Formulations prepared on site from herbs sourced in the Garhwal hills, so we know what is in them and when they were made.

Deliberately small

We cap numbers so a physician can genuinely review every residential guest each morning. That constraint is the point, not a limitation.

Qualified consultants for the clinical side

Our founder teaches yoga; he does not prescribe. Ayurvedic assessment, Panchakarma and herbal protocols are handled by consultant physicians qualified to do so.

Honest from the start

No borrowed credentials, no invented reviews, no rate card promising what a consultation has not yet established. We would rather earn it.

At a glance

What stands behind the door

We are newly opened, so these are not guest counts. They are what we actually bring — and what you can verify on your first visit.
