Your dominant constitution

Air & Ether — the principle of movement
You are creative, quick and adaptable, with a mind that moves faster than most. When vata rises out of balance you feel scattered, anxious, dry and depleted — and it usually shows first in your sleep and digestion.
Favour
- Warm, cooked, moist, mildly spiced food
- A genuinely regular daily routine
- Daily sesame oil self-massage
- Bed before 10 p.m.
- Grounding, slow practice — no hot vinyasa
Reduce
- Raw salads, dry crackers, iced drinks
- Skipping meals or eating on the move
- Late nights and overstimulation
- Excessive travel and screen time
- Fasting
Where we would start with you
- Abhyangam
- Shirodhara
- 5 Day Rejuvenation
Fire & Water — the principle of transformation
Sharp, driven and capable of intense focus. When pitta rises you overheat in every sense — acidity, inflammation, impatience and a tendency to push through warning signs rather than rest.
Favour
- Cooling foods — cucumber, coconut, sweet fruit
- Meals on time, never skipped
- Moderate exercise in cool hours
- Sheetali and chandra bhedana breath
- Time outdoors near water
Reduce
- Chilli, fermented and deep-fried food
- Alcohol and excess coffee
- Midday sun and hot yoga
- Working late into the night
- Confrontation when hungry
Where we would start with you
- Takradhara
- Shirodhara
- 3 Day Detox
Earth & Water — the principle of structure
Calm, steady, patient and physically robust. When kapha accumulates you feel heavy, congested and unmotivated, and weight settles in ways that are stubborn to shift.
Favour
- Warm, light, dry, well-spiced food
- Rising before 6 a.m.
- Vigorous daily movement
- Dry powder massage (udvartana)
- Kapalabhati and bhastrika breath
Reduce
- Dairy, wheat, sugar and heavy oils
- Daytime napping
- Cold damp environments
- Sedentary days
- Overeating out of comfort
Where we would start with you
- Udvartana
- Panchakarma
- 7 Day Panchakarma
A questionnaire estimates prakriti from self-report; nadi pariksha reads it from the pulse. Our physicians reach a different conclusion in roughly one case in five, most often because current imbalance (vikriti) is masking the underlying constitution. Treat this as a well-informed starting hypothesis.
Background
What a dosha
actually is
A dosha is not a personality type and it is not a horoscope. The word means “that which can go out of balance”, and the three doshas are functional principles: vata governs movement, pitta governs transformation, kapha governs structure. Every one of us has all three, in a proportion set at conception.
That inherent proportion is your prakriti and it does not change. What changes is your vikriti — the current state, shifted by season, age, work, food, grief and sleep. Ayurvedic treatment is essentially the work of moving vikriti back toward prakriti.
This matters practically. A diet that suits a kapha constitution will leave a vata constitution depleted and anxious. The vigorous morning practice that transforms one person will exhaust another. Knowing which force dominates in you is what turns generic wellness advice into something that actually works for your body.

Have your reading confirmed
from the pulse
A forty-five minute consultation maps both prakriti and vikriti properly, and gives you a written protocol prioritised by what will help most.
