What we teach

Eight classes, every day

The same eight run daily — weekends and seasons included — so a practice can be built around them. Ask us for the current timings, or check when you reserve a mat; we would rather tell you than have you rely on a page that has drifted.

Finding your level

Be honest about where you are

Nobody is impressed by an over-reaching practice, and the injuries we see most often come from people two levels above where their body currently is.

Gentle

Recovering, over 60, or managing a condition. Chair and wall support used freely. Nothing held long.

Therapeutic Yoga · Yin · Prenatal

All levels

The default. Every posture is offered in three versions and you choose. Most guests stay here happily for years.

Hatha · Yoga Nidra · Meditation

Intermediate

A steady practice for at least six months, comfortable with sun salutations and holding postures for a minute.

Vinyasa Flow · Pranayama & Kriya

Advanced

Inversions, arm balances and long retentions. Entry is by teacher assessment, not self-declaration.

Mysore self-practice · 300-hr modules

A class, described

Ninety minutes,
most of it quiet

No music, no counting reps, no mirrors. The Cantonment is quiet enough that you can hear your own breath, which is the entire point.

  1. 00:00

    Arrival and settling

Shoes off, mat chosen, five minutes of simply sitting. Latecomers are welcomed quietly, not glared at.

  2. 00:05

    Joint freeing (pawanmuktasana)

Ankles to neck, methodically. Unfashionable and the single most useful part of the class.

  3. 00:20

    Sun salutations

Three to twelve rounds depending on the class and the season. Modified versions are demonstrated, not whispered about.

  4. 00:40

    Standing and seated sequence

The main body of the practice, built around a focus that changes weekly.

  5. 01:10

    Pranayama

Fifteen minutes of breath work, seated. This is where the class actually lands.

  6. 01:25

    Savasana or yoga nidra

Never rushed, never skipped. If you fall asleep, nobody will wake you.

What people ask us

If yours is not here, ask us on WhatsApp — a human answers, not a chatbot.

The morning Traditional Hatha class. It is genuinely all-levels — props are provided, modifications are offered for every posture, and the teacher will find you in the first five minutes. Leave the afternoon Vinyasa until you have a month behind you.

Drop-ins are welcome for group classes subject to mat availability — we cap the shala at eighteen. Booking a day ahead guarantees a place. Private sessions and prenatal classes must be booked in advance.

Five of the eight daily classes stream live with two-way audio and video, so the teacher can see and correct you. You get the recording for 48 hours afterwards. Sessions run at times that work for IST, CET, EST and JST. Your first class is free.

Almost always, but not into a general class without an assessment first. Book a single yoga therapy session — the therapist will screen you, build a modified sequence and tell the group teachers what to watch for. It saves a great deal of trouble later.

Loose clothing you can move and fold in, and water. Mats, blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets are provided and cleaned between sessions. Practice is barefoot; leave shoes at the shala entrance.

The dedicated prenatal class is, from the second trimester with your obstetrician's clearance. General classes are not — several sequences and all inversions and strong twists are contraindicated, and a group class cannot safely accommodate that.

Your first class is free
