Tool one

BMI calculator,
read Ayurvedically

Most calculators give you a number and a Western category. This one also gives you the Asian-Indian cut-offs our physicians actually use — and what Ayurveda would make of the result.

Why two scales?

South Asian bodies carry more visceral fat at any given BMI, so the ICMR and WHO Asia-Pacific guidelines set the healthy ceiling at 23 rather than 25. For guests of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Sri Lankan descent, the lower scale is the clinically relevant one.

BMI is a population screening tool, not a diagnosis. It over-reads for muscular people and under-reads for those with low muscle mass, and it says nothing at all about where fat sits. Treat it as one input among several.

Tool two

Discover your dosha

Twelve questions about your body, digestion, sleep, temperament and how you behave under pressure. It takes two minutes and it will tell you which of the three forces dominates your constitution — which is the single most useful thing to know before changing anything at all.

  • Vata — air & ether
  • Pitta — fire & water
  • Kapha — earth & water
Take the assessment

What you get

  • Your dominant dosha, or dual constitution
  • A percentage breakdown across all three
  • What to favour and what to reduce
  • Which therapies suit your constitution

A questionnaire estimates prakriti; it does not replace nadi pariksha. Our physicians reach a different conclusion in roughly one case in five.

Tools are a starting point

A calculator cannot
read your pulse

These tools narrow things down. A forty-five minute consultation with a physician is what actually tells you where to begin.
